Something left over from that "draw probably non-canon alternate forms for characters" kick I was on recently that I finally decided to finish, Dominic "Skunk Boy" Mephitto as some sort of skunk-taur monster.

Super glad you like this one! It seems there's a few people that like this form.
As for how far down the belly goes... good question! Is it chest-belly-second chest-second belly, or does the whole portion from his human torso's belly down to his skunk portion's belly just count as one long belly?
I know I have friends that know enough about centaurs to answer this question... but I have no idea!

You rang? X3 Hehe
There are basically two full torsos, so you've got chest1-belly1-chest2-belly2. But even further detailed, this is how I describe the internal anatomy:
A taur has two sets of lungs, hearts, vocal cords, and stomachs, but only one of everything else. So the upper lungs and vocal cords have finer motor control, and thus they can be used for speaking. The lower set is more primitive, and is used for growling/roaring/feral sounds. Both can be used in parallel or separately, since air is pulled in by a diaphragm like any other animal, not forced in, so each set can separately draw in its own air, or together for a REALLY deep breath!
As for the hearts, there are two. The upper heart pumps blood mostly to the upper body, while the second pumps blood to the lower body. They work a little bit in conjunction, but are mostly independent.
Now, the best part: Dual stomachs! The first, primary (upper) stomach is where the food is stored as it's initially eaten. And since a taur needs to consume roughly double the amount of food, the upper stomach needs to have at least double the capacity. However, since the entirety of the digestive system (besides the primary stomach) is in the lower body, the upper body cavity doesn't have many other organs in the way, ie. liver, intestines, kidneys, etc. Thus, the entire upper body cavity besides the primary lungs and heart, is room for a MASSIVE stomach. So a bloated taur who has just raided a buffet looks like they just ate someone twice their size!
But, then there's the secondary stomach TOO. So once that food in the upper stomach begins digesting, it passes into the second stomach, freeing up capacity in the upper one. Therefore, a taur can feel hungry and have an empty upper stomach WHILE ALSO having just raided a buffet!! This does lead to more than double the food capacity of a normal anthro - more like 3-4 times that - yet the requirement for additional calories for that larger, full taur body, is closer to double. Hence, taurs have a high propensity to gain weight VERY quickly! ;3
Hope that helps, and REALLY hope to see this side of ya more often!! :D

Nice! I've had to ask a couple friends about this in the past but you're the first to really explain their thoughts on the subject in detail.
I guess first I could ramble about my own take on taur anatomy, in canon I have a taur-type race known as the Ventrannans. Their form is a bit more compact and therefore, I simply split the internal organs between the two torsos, dedicating the upper torso to the lungs and heart, and the lower portion to their digestive system. As the come from an icy planet where only the tropical regions ever see a day with a temperature above freezing, such a layout of their organs also probably makes sense as it keeps their heart and lungs further above the ice and snow when they're out foraging.
What you're describing sounds somewhat similar, but you also accounted for something I really didn't at the start, and that's the additional caloric requirements to move such a large body with extra limbs and the double circulatory systems you mentioned. It also sounds sort of like the multiple stomachs in ruminant animals like cows, maybe double stomachs are better at extracting more value from whatever they eat...
This actually makes a lot of sense with something more like a "traditional" centaur with a humanoid torso atop an animal body, not to mention it sounds highly suited to fat furry fun time with the ability to consume ridiculous quantities of food and get that bloated belly.
Very glad you like this form, I haven't really decided what to do with it yet, though. Maybe some sort of non-canon "what if" story featuring transformation magic going awry somehow... I can see there being some fun to be had with someone who wasn't always a taur getting used to their new form--a big butt that bumps into things, and the fact that said butt is now naked come to mind! Of course there's probably the advantage of being able to slap a pack saddle on yourself and carry all the groceries into the house in one trip!
Maybe if I get really bored (and motivated) I can draw his girlfriend as a coyote-taur sometime to match, or design some more creatures that just naturally have this sort of body plan.

I am thinking of playing around with taurs a bit more in general, maybe I'll do a version of this that's full Skunkdog and replace the human torso with the Skunkdog one, or maybe do a donkey one with my donkey guy sometime. Or, I could just play with my canon Samoyed Taur race some more, since they are cute but not all that well developed story-wise--either way, it's something different that might be able to break me out of my art block a bit. Thanks again!
