I never understood the idea that asian swords are better then western. They have pros and cons.

I was making a joke, hence the "He could probably cut the world in half" comment.

yeah, I got that. I'm just saying, there are people who take that kind of stuff seriously. There was a JRPG where you litterally do that as part of the story. True they are floating planets/islands like mario galazy, but you still chop one in half with your asian style sword.

my only understanding of why Oriental style blades are considered better is probably more along the lines that oriental warriors were much better at wielding them than your average cavalier or warrior.

That doesn't make sence either. Same with the honour and armour arguments.

That's what doesn't make sense. They are both soldiers, and thus I assume they took their training seriously.

As far as I can tell. It depends on what side someone is on. 300 and fantasy themed stuff favours the westurn while anime favours the east.

it depends how far you go back, Most recently the Romans and Greeks were stronger, go back a bit further and i'd say the eastern forces were stronger.

MH armour = Monster Hunter Armour. Though unfortunately I don't believe the reference you gave me on the armor design you had me do is based on Monster Hunter. :p

Also he's referencing to Grey's weapon, the Sakabatou, is a reverse-bladed katana. No such sword existed in asian history. It's purely a weapon created from an anime, Rurouni Kenshin: Samurai X.

Hmm, funny enough the armor that is referenced in the picture has no ties to Monster Hunter. :p

The armor Night is wearing is loosely based on a picture he showed me of a character which seemed to either be from an anime or perhaps a game.

Also I have to commend you on such a fantastic eye for detail. That is infact a Sakabatou (Reverse-Edge sword) from Rurouni Kenshin, a major influence in my persona's creation. It is his weapon of choice along with the same vow Kenshin pledged to never kill.

To many this would seem uninteresting unless you know that Grey is in fact a berserker, though it's extremely difficult for him to control his bloodlust when it is triggered. When it does he turns the blade around and does so without his knowledge, acting purely on a bestial force to kill.

In a way it is very similar to Kenshin, actually.

This is a fantastic piece!!! Wonderfully colored and this particular scene says a lot!. You wanted an answer on how you would lose I'll tell you. The two different styles here specifically show that you would lose sorry hun. Here is how. It has nothing to do with the swords themselves but the styles being used. You are wielding your sword with your hand over handed on the hilt. This leaves your hand open for your opponent to strike your hand downwards with his Katana thus disarming you. It's all very evident. =^_^= Wonderful work though!~ I look forward to seeing much more.

hehe, this is something me and my best friend do all the time, and we still cant even figure out who wins the sparring matches cause we are so evenly matched that we beat eachother up practically that same amount nearly hit for hit
