When artist Dirty-Bird offered a monster head picture deal I grabbed a slot but then wondered which one to choose. I am a sci-fi nut, I have many favorite movie monsters but who would I put in my gallery of fluff? Then it occurred to me that the most monstrous character to haunt my nightmares was one I had only recently met and I'll be damned if he didn't have a fluffy form!

This is Bondrewd, the villain from the manga/anime series "Made In Abyss". He is the monstrous personification of the pure scientist, think Josef Mengele. He experiments on children in the name of science as he tries to determine the nature of the curse of the abyss.

He lives and works in the 5th layer of the abyss where a curse is activated with elevation, even going up a flight of stairs could cause mutilation, so his unusual outfit is apparently to prevent barotrauma from a usual day at the office. Well it did not work so well here when, in a battle with the heroes of the story, he moved around way too much, was stricken and you see the result.

There is a bit more to it and it is so horrifying I need to warn you. But if you have not seen or read Made In Abyss and you like amazing storytelling and cute characters in situations that will enter your nightmares do check it out. Book 9 comes out at the end of March.
