"They came in droves and hordes. Quietly, they aroused no fear. Surely there was room for us all. We had an entire planet to share. None of us saw the violence coming. There was no reason to kill us. We'd been willing to share the world's bounty. Now, we serve them and they rule and our ancestors weep."

Hmm
rabbits live, rabbits thrive, rabbits overwhelm...
Its how they fight, over whelming numbers. A massive heavily armored Warren ship pushes threw a planets defenses. It doesn't matter whats thrown at them since modular compartments seal off any damage that manages to hole there armor. The causualty rates don't matter due to the shear mass of troopers and marineson boardship. The ship comes in threw the armosphere hot and heavy , only fireing breaking thristers at the last possible moment. The landings are hard and rough but once a colony ship lands it's never rely expected to fly again. Before the dust even clears the massive armored hatches open and out from the bowels of the ship poor thousands apone thousands of soldiers, shock troopers, marines, as well as armor and artillery. They wash over the land like a tidal wave and nothing can stand in there wake.

The funny thing is, you pretty well nailed it.
The warren ship is essentially comprised of burrow modules, each with individual propulsion, life support and burrowing capabilities. Each holds a platoon of soldiers/colonists. They are all armed and armored. The other section of the ship is a domed meadow. It's the common area where they all eat while in transit from one world to another. You know? Rabbits eat above ground, socialize above ground and live below. Same deal.
Each warren ship has its own command structure and policy. They are sent from the homeworld, so crowded that rabbits actually live above ground in towering warrens. The colonists/soldiers are loaded into the ships and sent. They are pointed at a world and forgotten. Some of the warrens drop their burrow modules like seeds, peppering the planet with colonists. This way, no one is alarmed as they slowly fill the world.
The other preferred method is to land a warren ship in a capital city and declare, "All your base are belong to us."
Occasionally, when serious resistance is met, the brass on the warren ships will authorize the March Hare Protocol. This involves the use of hormones to throw full companies of males into a breeding frenzy, which makes them more aggressive and violent. The males are then denied breeding rights among their own kind. They are allowed to mate and keep any females they conquer until the protocols ends which is at the end of the conquest. This keeps the lapine breeding to a minimum during the operation.
