‘Stop,… stop! You’re making it worse,…’
‘No, that we are sinking is making it worse,…’
‘No, you’re just smearing it,… oh,… there is my flower, it must have fallen off,… ‘
‘Hold still, let me get this,…’
‘Stop!! …. Let me just get my flower and,… oh, there is my spear, and,… huh,… hmm,…’

February’s picture from the monthly Patreon of
shonuff44 this sticky situation continues to get stickier for Hula Girl and Ember, and while Ember’s attempts to help her friend clean off alittle,… though her efforts aren’t having the desired results,… Hula Girl seems to notice something.
I must say, I am a sucker for pretty eyes, it’s definitely one of the things that drew me to ShoNuff’s artwork, he always draws such beautiful eyes, and that close up panel of Hula Girl’s eyes is just gorgeous. Much like in the last picture, Hula Girl’s expression is great, really showing how much she dislikes being covered in mud like this, but Ember certainly seems focused on trying to help her friend, though it doesn’t seem to be working out as planned, but perhaps getting her flower back will help. The mud coating on Hula Girl continues to impress, with how thick and gooey the mud looks, especially in how it drips and oozes off of them, yet how you can still make out the skull details beneath it, a very nice touch. The stray hairs as these two become increasingly messy is a very nice touch as well, enhancing their distraught appearances as the mud creeps higher up their lovely forms. The muddy color certainly is predominant in the picture, between the coating and the ground, but their lovely tanned skin provides a nice contrast, and the greens of Hula Girl’s leaves and the reds of Ember’s hair really stand out against the mud. The extra panels here really add so much to the image and the narrative here, I think, that sudden look of something catching her eye, that sideways glance to see what it is, and who knows, it might just be something important. ;)
Another lovely picture in this outstanding series. Thank you very much, ShoNuff. :)
