You know, it's been so long since this story got picked to be updated that I forgot that I haven't yet gotten around to making a thumbnail for it. Ah well. Might annoy me enough to go and make it.
Anyway, we get a little bit of a nudge from Fate on where to go. And this is by far the biggest deviation from the original story line. As said in chapter 1, this is actually effectively a rewrite of a story that was an inversion/parody of the standard fantasy RPG. Some stuff still remains but a lot of the bigger concepts remain. However, in the original plot, Nathanriel and Angylia head here together and head off to her home next and someone that hasn't yet been introduced kind of forces himself into their party. Once there they meet Bob and do a few things in the vampire capital before heading back and going to Xinth (where they run into Kresta) once the blockade for Anon and Ukei has been lifted. But other than exposition there bringing out backstories and whatnot there really isn't any point. And as it doesn't serve any narrative purpose for them going there, in the rewrite they never go there at all, but instead skip the vampire capital and head straight to Xinth and Ossal.
Another alteration is that in the original you never really saw Fate manifest itself. Fate was supposed to be the analog of the player controlling the protagonist. Thus all the allusions of a puppet on a string to anyone Fate is controlling. Fate doesn't actually look like a cat. It's just that's the form it chose to make. Neither Fate nor Death have any specific shape, but instead just assume one when they feel the need to. There is a reason for the chains, however, and the fact that Fate doesn't really feel comfortable revealing itself.
