Rime is my own gal!
Whoever said "many hands make light work"?
Taking another sip of coffee with one hand, the displacer beast scribbled down a few more notes with a weary sigh. The case itself was fairly cut and dry - one party was very clearly in the right - but for some reason counsel for said party was adamant about drawing out the case for as long as possible. Rime knows the type: young counsel still green in the field trying to make a big play to garner the attention of the Partner who sent them into the lion's den to take the fall. It didn't matter, either way, because the party represented by said counsel was just as adamant about insisting that they were in the right despite every bit of evidence to the contrary.
Another sip of coffee, scanning over the statements made by opposing counsel. Back to the statements made by the stubborn counsel. What can she do to help move this along at this point? Perhaps the only way this is going to go is the slaughter at the trial. Still, she's paid to try and help parties compromise. Such is the role of the mediator.
Even when that job is watching in frustration as people deny the reality of their situation.
"It's going to be another long night, I think," Rime mutters under her breath, reaching for the binder of case exhibits.
