Don't kick yourself over it, it's not bad =)
I don't dig the background colours that much but I really LOVE the character, both design and colouring are great ^^

I like it though, the radically different color really fits in with the patchwork look to the character - but yeah, I know the "hey wait, this used to be a good piece of art before I tried to color it!"
