I'm trying my hand at animation! Sorta. Old school one-sketch-after-another stuff, but I'm having a fair bit of fun with it.. having graph paper helps a lot! I need a light table though, if I'm gonna get serious about this type of thing, which I wouldn't mind.
Anyways, I haven't really done anything with this, beyond draw it.. so this is a very rough preview. I've got a lot of work to do on it, so the final version might be a while!

If you want to get serious about any kind of animation, especially the old school way, get The Animator's Survival Kit by Richard Williams (ISBN 0-57120-228-4) It is pretty much the bible of animation and any good professional animators have it as desk reference material. I know i do (though i am still in training) *hugs his book*
looks weird man.
unless the foots towards our viewpoint then it makes sense drawingwise but not animation wise.
the foot comes towards us, kicks forward then comes towards us again, it should be towards us, kick, away from us.
I know im over analyzing a quick preview and Im sorry mate, just giving my comment.

I've got something that might help you. You said graph paper helps, well you can print your own at whatever lightness you want...and it doesn't have to be square like that, it can just be dots, or triangles or hexagons or pretty much whatever you want. It's an online graph-paper generator that makes pdf format files for you to download for later use.

Might make it easier for you to get rid of the lines when you go to remove them.

Hey Aurbin,
Nice animation, you have good timing here, nice poses. Few things to look into, he needs to anticipate the jump. In other words kinda lean back then jump. Just like LupeSilverwind suggested, get that Animators Survival kit! Its an awesome book especially if you're really serious about animating. Let me know if you need more help :D I'm in my 3rd year of my animation program so I might be able to help out a little bit. Nice work Pengi :D

I'd suggest some more inbetweens at the start if it's doing the pre-kick-bounce stance. It kinda flickers there. But I think this is great so far! I can't wait to see more!
I'm fond of either Flash or Adobe Premiere for sticking my frames together. Was this Illustrator? (saw mention of it in another reply) I've never tried that for animation.
And I entirely agree on the Animator's Survival Kit like others have mentioned. It's great. You can probably find it used and real cheap going through the book search http://www.addall.com
