[Animated] Jeibu Belly Rubs
Jeibu loves his smooth, round tummy rubs. <3
Honestly something quick and cute I randomly wanted to do on pure impulse and did it rather "quick" in one sitting. I'm particularly happy about that. I originally just was gonna doodle the sprite and move on (like so many personal WIPs I've left in limbo cuz commission work calls.) but yeh. I managed to do this fast enough, but is't also only 14 frames and the movement isn't too much in it, which helped it be fast as well.
Also for something cute and tummy related that isn't wacky NSFW. Hahah
Jeibu is one of my critters.

Thanks much!
This animation is 14 frames at a GIF speed of 60ms, which is about 15fps.
My animations range from 15fps to 24fps on the raw exports. Sometimes for my game stuff , the rates for certain frames of an animation can go up to 30fps, I usually only do this for active frames of an attack or certain state transitional animations, like stand to crouch or jump squats, which are all 2 frames at 30fps (4-frame states), as an example.

Honestly, I think it's like anything, it just depends on what "clicks" for you and time and practice and such.
I've been doing pixel art stuff for a long time and it was a style of animation work that clicked well for me. I personally do find pixel art is kinda easier than the higher/res animations, in a way. There are lil "shortcuts" and such you can get away with in pixel form, but that also depends on the animation.
I do think that a lot of this stuff does translate over to certain styles or higher res 2D animations. But, just like the high-res stuff, there's a lot of different styles/methods you can go about animating any given thing.
For me, I personally find it faster and easier to not do any outlines in the work. I just throw down shapes or colors and then refine them when I like the motion, kinda like I show a bit in these two examples which you can see my process a bit:

For this animation, I was able to just copy over most of the body in all the frames and then redraw only what's needed. Jeibu's face is a good example of this. It don't change a lot in this animation, so I just copied it over each frame and then made frame-by-frame edits as needed.
