He seemed like a nice enough character, even if he had abruptly appeared from a faintly glowing cleft in reality, and reeked of ozone and bananas for some reason.
When it turned out he just wanted to hang out, take in some good books, and sample some munchies -- well, I certainly didn't really mind a bit of company.
