They are stereotypical adults after all, and the old generation in terms of sexuality was pretty "black or white, no grey areas". Aka, "you date only the opposite gender? You're straight. You dated even once one of your same gender? You're gay/lesbian".

Again, the artist mixes reality checks with gags and I find this extremely great, plot wise

I think something like this was legit: in Miles's sight, he was tricked by both: Karen took his pics and pretended he was her new bf, Boomer used him for sex while not being actually gay (And he still doesn't know how shitty Boomer fault is since they still haven't mentioned that Boomer too wanted to take pics of him to have a revenge against Karen).

Now Boomer has two options: following Miles and preparing a good excuse for this, or telling him the truth, hoping for the best.
