here it comes, the long story. This is Cid Kazaam and his wife Aliyah. I played Cid in a D&D campaign for a long time. After the game ended, I used him as a springboard for my own campaign, and advanced his story.
Cid Kazaam was a human wizard for about half his life. he polymorphed one of his enemies into a mare so that he could keep an eye on him and make sure the guy stayed out of trouble. Well, it eventually came back to haunt him when he fought some of the Gods of Chaos. An eldrich explosion changed him into a half horse. He accepted his fate, and eventually found a wife named Aliyah, and changed her as well.
After years of adventuring, he returned to his desert homeland of Al-Serene a rich and powerful wizard. he had learned the secrets of hydroponic farming from the elves, and used it to make himself a powerful man in the country. the other ruling families didn't like that, and it ended up becoming a major battle. Cid won out in the end, and called a truce, sparring the families in exchange for their firstborn daughters, which he also changed into anthro horses and took as his wives. They became the progenitors of a new race in Al-Serene called the Equanni. Cid became the kingdom's caliph.
Cid's lasting legacy to the Equanni was to build an artifact, a temple pool in one of the city's springs. It was intelligent, and if a subject was willing and worthy, it would permanently change the bather into an Equanni who would be welcomes into the Herd. The Equanni have ruled Al-Serene now for 700 years. I ended up running a whole campaign in Al-Serene with the Equanni and other races some years later. It was my best world setting.
By the end of things, Cid lived to be 135 years old, and became a 23rd level Wizard. Aliyah lived to be 70 years old, and became a 16th level Bard/Ranger and took Tempest as a prestige class, making her a whirling dervish of blades. She was known as Saint Aliyah the Blade (yes, a Dune reference) the Protector of the Equanni race.
