Did you know Ryan Coogler was producing Space Jam 2? I know it's not the same as directing the movie, but... now I want to believe the movie won't just be a giant Nike commercial. I've LOVED Coogler's previous films.

And apparently Spike Brandt is co-directing. He did a great job on the Duck Dodgers series. Thought it remains to be seen if that will translate to the big screen.
And, as another aside: I don't know what all the fuss is about. The new Lola looks pretty much like the old Lola.
