Nah, he's a bit more competent with that than one might expect--he's gonna poke someone's vital organs out!
Or just pose with it because it's cool. I kinda get the feeling that even in Magic Fighting Monster Land, posing with a weapon is a good way of letting everybody that sees your social media profile know that you are very badass.

He's more experienced and competent with it than one might expect--although he does have a habit of conjuring it in spaces that are just a bit too small to accommodate magical lances composed of dark crystal! I'm sure there's at least one poster on the wall in his bedroom that's covering an oddly spearhead-shaped hole...
I suppose it sort of does--but it offers him quite the advantage in the range department! And if he needs to stab somebody that's out of reach he can throw it!
I was about to say it might be useful for roasting marshmallows or hot dogs over a campfire as well, but the head of this thing's pretty broad, not to mention it's a magic lance composed of dark crystal and not some simple cooking utensil.
