Everything is settling down after my surgery, and I got the excellent news of it looking like I won't have to pay any of the $6k bill myself, so I had to celebrate! And at the same time, I noticed that my local [big chain pet store] has started carrying...millipedes
It was perfect!
I already had the tank and all the fixings, so today, after a long week of waiting, I brought them home! A male(??) and female pair. The female is called Lapsha, but no name for the male yet. I thought the store only had one, so when I saw him in the tank too, I had to get him. He also needs a noodle, or Russian, name >3<
I'm so excited to finally get into invertebrate keeping!! I have my isopods(dwarf purple), but those are a burrowing species, so they're not much fun to watch
Up next, vinegaroons!!! The store also had tailless whip scorpions(vinegaroon relatives), but uhhhhhh those are a bit much for me. I can either wait until it's warmer and order online, or wait until June for the reptile expo. There's one this month too, but with covid still Bad, I don't much want to risk it unless I absolutely need to go for supplies
Until then, I am Very content with my new additions! There's a lot personality packed into such tiny arthropods!

Nooo ;A; Not too big of a collection, I hope. Taxidermies can get expensive even if you're doing them yourself. And trying to replace a collection would be overwhelming
What kind of tarantula? owo I'm not allowed spiders, but I still love them. Also totes interested in hearing about the isopods. I want so many more, but cork bark has been hard to find lately?? And I'm out of tubs, lul. I really like Porcellio scaber and how many color variations there are

It was only two framed bugs (a beetle and grasshopper), though I also had some vertebrate skeletons too that I had to rehome. ;-;'
It's a juvenile curly hair named Muffin! Not sure of the sex yet. As for isopods, I have a bunch: blonde rubber duckies, Armadillidium klugii "pudding", powder orange, dairy cows, and a culture of wild caught A. vulgare. They're a lot of fun to watch, and super easy to keep. If you can't find cork bark, you could always collect bark/sticks from outside (provided it's from somewhere safe without pesticide use) and then wash and bake them to sterilize them. Most of my bug hides have been collected.
