Up next in the Team Katswell Character Guide is Kitty's own adopted niece from another planet, the lovely and multi-talented young feline, Miss Shine Ortiz.

Powers & Abilities:
Shine was born with mystical powers over fire, ice, and lightning, making her a great spell-caster. She's also a skilled martial artist thanks to training from Sgt. Stallion, and her aunt Kitty Katswell has given her training in dealing with complete idiots, making her very patient on the battlefield.

Bio:
Shine was actually born on the faraway planet of Fortunia, a planet inhabited by cat-like aliens that have the ability to control fire, ice, and lightning, as Princess Shinicia. Her actual birth parents were descendents of one of the Aniverse Disciples that created the Aniverse Gems, and were charged with keeping them a secret from the Earth anthros to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands. However, an army of evil hyena-like aliens came and invaded Fortunia, causing Shinicia's parents to put her into hypersleep, and sent her off to Earth. Upon leaving her planet, Shinicia travelled through the galaxy, and in 1992, she landed on Earth near Petropolis, California.
She then wound up at the Petropolis Orphanage, where she spent most of her childhood at. However, because of her budding magic powers, she had trouble making friends with the other kids, and they were afraid that she might turn them into frogs or something. But, when she was 7 years old, Shine, as she was called by the orphans, was then adopted by Kitty's older brother Marcus after he married a French poodle named Fifi Oui Oui, and began living a more normal life as Kitty Katswell's niece.
However, as Shine got older, she quickly discovered that she came from another planet after finding the pod that transported her to Earth. Then, a hologram from her parents revealed that she holds the secrets of the Aniverse Gems, and it was up to her to keep them from falling into the wrong paws. So, with this newly-found knowledge, Shine signed up for TUFF Academy, and passed with flying colors. But, she decided to join Team Iron Hoof because she thought TUFF wouldn't accept aliens as agents. Nevertheless, Shine resumed her training from Sgt. Stallion, the team's leader, and became their stealth expert, making her a pretty valued member.
Shine then reunited with her Aunt Kitty and the rest of Team Katswell due to a misunderstanding. During a typical conflict between Team Katswell and DOOM, Melville and the rest of Team Iron Hoof jumped in to bail Team Katswell out by defeating DOOM for them. While she was excited to see her niece again, Kitty was skeptical about the rest of the team, thinking that like Team Catz, were trying to steal their thunder. But, after another run-in with Team Iron Hoof, Shine reassured her aunt that they were trying to help Team Katswell rather than replace them, giving her plenty of relief. When General Guar started planning to unleash a deadly virus on Petropolis, both teams teamed up, and Shine actually assisted John in dealing with Guar's troops combining her brand of magic with John's force powers. After Guar's plans were foiled, Shine became closer to her aunt than ever, and she, along with the rest of Team Iron Hoof, became common allies for Team Katswell to team up with.

Personality & Traits:
Shine comes across as very naive and pretty optimistic, but she's always willing to defend her teammates whenever they're in danger. She often comes across as "bubbly" by most people, but on occassionly she has proven the doubters wrong by showcasing some surprisingly good intelligence for her age. So, while she's a fun-loving little kitty, but she's no pushover when it comes to fighting crimes.
Shine also has a cheeky side to herself, and has even pulled a few pranks on her teammates on Team Iron Hoof from time to time (mostly on Desmond). She also sees Cali and Caroline, the other two female members of the team, as her sisters, and would often hang out at the mall with them during their breaks. Shine is also one of the handful of relatives that actually loved Kitty Katswell, and thinks she's the closest thing to an actual mother she ever had since Fifi was too busy to look after her herself.
However, because of her naive nature, Shine often rushes in without thinking clearly, and often gets herself kidnapped a lot. But, with how much she gets kidnapped, Shine's grown to like being bound and gagged, as long as it's not a villain tying her up. She also likes dinosaurs, and would spent a lot of time at the Museum of Natural History, learning about the Thunder Lizards. But, Shine's still devoted to Team Iron Hoof, and is ready to come to their aid whenever they need it.
