The director of the new Space Jam movie was, according to an interview with him, shocked and disgusted by the fact that Lola had boobs and was conventionally attractive in the original film, apparently believing these to somehow be indicators of a weak, fragile, incompetent and personality-lacking character no girl should like or should look up to, so he set out to make her strong, smart, capable and a good role model by removing those traits, which he openly views as antithetical to strong female role models, and making her flat as a 10-year-old boy with overall proportions more like a palette-swapped Bugs and a face reminiscent of Slappy Squirrel, while of course failing to see how this mindset of his is bodyshaming, demeaning and sexist as all hell.

Jesus, when you put it all like that, it'll be a serious wonder if the new Space Jam movie will be able to live up to the hype after it comes out. Thanks so much for explaining it, friend!

Between that, this whole Lola debacle and the fresh news of Pepe le Pew being cut from the film over a year ago and being made a forbidden character by WB, I think this movie's reached three strikes in my books.

Oh, and it just got even "better"--word has freshly gotten out that Pepe le Pew was cut from the movie and WB made the executive decision to never allow him to ever show up in anything ever again. Because he was supposedly a major contributor to "rape culture" or some shit. And they made this decision over a year ago, we're just learning about it now.

I think Pepe Le Pew's origens were more based of stereotypes that french people had in the day. However when I saw those cartoons I didn't get the vibe that you were supposed to do the shit that he did lol, espeically incases where he did get hurt, lol. But this just sounds another case of shit where people think fiction affects reality. It's like that dumb shit about video games being the cause of violents. Really though, considering WB wouldn't let the Animaniacs team bring back Minerva and Hello Nurse for the new show, and at this rate will probably ban Fifi from the new Tiny Toons show, I guess we shouldn't be surprised that all this shit with Space Jam and the Looney Tunes is happening. Hell, maybe Slappy wasn't allowed back because WB was busy using her face as the model for Lola's new one and didn't want there to be any confusion.

How much Looney Tune character development do people retroactively expect out of/somehow see in Space Jam anyway? The Looney Tunes all already have set characters, Lola (as you pointed out) was FAR from the focus of the movie, which was about Michael Jordan and the other real-life people more than anything, and the whole thing was literally just one big reference to an early-90s Nike commercial.

The whole point to her character was that she is indeed sexualized but not objectified.

Welp, looks like I'll be even more cautious about Space Jam II now. I knew that there was a red flag being raised, but good to know ahead of time. Space Jam II isn't a medium to use for escape and fun especially if that means more heavy politics could be played. We'll see how it goes though.
