It was a special day, a day for just the two of them. No responsibility, no demands, no expectations. They even had sent out for dinner to remain inside. A loving night with just the two of them.

This is a bit late XD but it's great little piece and love how it turned out.

Date Night In

It was that time of year when all the couples the world over go out and buy things for each other, going out of their way to show affect they had for each other. But to him, it was just a consumer holiday meant to grab money and win brownie points for future screw ups. That also didn’t mean that the one he cared about most didn’t deserve a day to be pampered. He would get over it.

So, for the past two weeks, he had been planning, buying, and keeping it all in the dark from her. Brushing off any attempts to indicate he was doing anything special for the day. It was all setup, she would be working her shift and come home at her usual time, he would have everything ready, taking the whole day after work to make sure everything was perfect.

Steak dinner with garlic mashed potatoes, seasoned green beans and a sirloin steak, cooked to her liking. A vase of gold with her favorite flowers arranged as a center piece, their humble table looking like a five-star restaurant wit ha small candle to light. Other candles were scattered around the room with shades of red to bath the room in it’s warm light. The last thing was a quick shower, dressing in his suit and wearing those annoying shoes they always demand he wear in such places, then to wait.

His wait wasn’t long, he greeted her as she came in, giving a slight bow and offering his paw with a warm and loving smile. “Welcome home my love, would you like to join me for dinner?”

Her shock made all the effect worth it seeing her face light up, then she promptly pounced him, nearly knocking the two of them over. A deep long kiss broken by the need for air. “Runik! You did all this? For me?”

He chuckled “I would move the heavens if it would please you my love. I hope you like it.”

She kissed him again, giving a happy wiggle, “I love it, almost as much as you. Mmm thank you for all this, I could use it today.”

He held her close, “Your welcome love, go and shower and get ready, and date night can begin.”

She smiled and hurried off him and into the bedroom, annoyed sounds could be heard until she dashed into the bedroom. With a smile, he moved to do his own work, starting the steaks and getting the food finished. With the steaks ready, the plates set, he sat and waited. Content to wait for her.

With a smile, wearing a form fitting short black dress with a slit to show off her curves and heels to finish off the look, “How do I look?” she asked with a sultry look and purr.

“You look just as gorgeous as a goddess; I just hope the food is to your liking.” He said with a grin, standing to offer her a seat.

“Aww that’s sweet you of love, I am sure its tasty.” She took her seat, her feet not quite getting to the floor. He followed suit and started into his food. He was about to take his first bite when he noticed she hadn’t touched her food; she was looking at him with that look at always made his heart race. He felt his own smile form as he simple stared back into her eyes, the food forgotten and all that was important was the one sitting across from him. The love he never thought he would find; she was the one he had searched for and now she was his and he was hers. It would be the start of a beautiful and wondrous night that they would not so
