As I always say, it's an issue of not going into either extreme: People must understand that yes, there are real fascist psychopaths who hate people for who they are... at the same time, a fashion has formed in some circles to call anyone who disagrees with them a Nazi, while some ways of approaching even the issue of real ones go overboard (eg: destroying freedom of speech). Speaking of Che Guevara, he wasn't even a real guerrilla fighter. This kind of sums up my concerns. We do not know the story behind the post, maybe said author ran into a rather rabid bout of leftists. But it more sounds like they ran into the Nazi propaganda. I do get the impression the alt right accuses leftest of this stuff more than leftists do it. Leftest tend to be horrified when someone actually leftest does that.

Than again I do not hang around that many internet circles, and stay off Twitter and Facebook, hang more on spacebattles, other fanfiction sites and so on. So maybe I am hearing more about the right wing crazies than the left wing crazies.

Do right wing and left wing mean anything, mixing complicated political systems into a single axis seems over simplying them. Often both sides of the extreme start to look strangely like the same thing, making one wonder if one judging them right.

I consider myself a moderate leftest who thinks capitalism has some critical pros, but needs to be tightly regulated. I do not think communism works, but I think capitalism destroys itself if you give it the freedom to. Companies must pay the price of their externalites which can be negative for positive ones, trust busting hammer must be kept ready, and becoming rich is reasonable, becoming so rich one can buy a senator off is terrifying. I wish we can find a progressive tax scheme that can avoid being loop holed by the mega rich, and allow one to have wealth as a nice diminishing curve in the amount of effort required to increase it.

Also please replace first past the post with ranked voting, first past the post breaks hugely when one looks into the details. Voting should be a holiday too.

The story about the OK symbol is intresting. It started when channers decided to trick leftists in thinking OK is a Nazi symbol, but actually Nazies got into it. - Yes, the whole point of the left right thingy, while being used incorrectly, is a means of categorising people as progressive, conservative, and reactionary, it started all the way back in france or smth, as the progressives, revolutionaries, etc. sat on the left of the parliament, and the reactionaries, monarchists, and conservatives sat on the right, in the modern day, the term has become increasingly overused and used wrong, but it is still a moderately valid means of describing politics rather quickly, even if there are things such as economically leftist but socially rightist societies, namely the USSR under stalin (pre ww2) where he regressed women's, minorities, and gays rights, and reinforced certain social hierarchies in the USSR, namely, through attempts of russification, yap yap tldr is yes it does
