Redwall is consuming my daily life and it's great. I've never been more motivated to cook.
Anyway, Cornflower. I recently found out that cornflowers are the same thing as bachelor's buttons, which I grew up seeing around here covering the hills in springtime and sometimes in people's gardens. I always thought a cornflower was some foreign British plant that I'd never seen.
My personal headcanon is that Loamhedge mice, and their (physical and spiritual) successors Redwall mice, could have displayed piebaldism due to a restricted gene pool. Plus if you live safe in an Abbey, camouflage isn't as important. Loamhedge was pretty geographically isolated iirc, so it was probably more prevalent there, than in Redwall where they just take in any rando who happens along the path :P
