Now all I can imagine is a scenario where Lucian and Sierra have to do this on their current mission, either to get information or escape somewhere without causing too much destruction, like the first time he did this.

I imagine it as a legitimate gender change. Although I imagine taking on some shapes would be trickier than others, depending on the user's magical experience, with the feral form being the easiest and scaling upwards in difficulty from there. Lucian is a pro of course, ha ha
Ahh. It would be an interesting world to live in. And yeah I figured the feral form is the easiest after reading Crimson Flag.
Also I figure the reason his and Sierra's first gender shifted forms were so exagerrated was because Lucian was trying to make sure they were both different enough it was better to go "too far" than to fail and not shift far enough.
