A little folklore on Shinings.
Shining's, often referred to as familiars, are mystical beings that are only able to be created by powerful beings and an immense amount of magic. They are meant to be messengers and watchers of the world. Preferring to take the form of a canine, feline, or a mixture of both, these mystical creatures travel the world and bring good fortune and goodwill toward those that show kindness in the world. They report back what they see to their masters who in turn use their own magic to punish those that need to be punished or reward those that show good deeds.
While Shinings are born pure, kind, and curious about the world there are those that are exposed to too much evil in the world. This causes them to be corrupted and tear away from their master's control unless their master destroys them before they get to this point. Those that are able to get free from their master's control are usually hunted down and killed due to all the havoc they are known to cause.

Nyx is cold and only feels joy when pain and suffering are involved.
She prefers the company of her own, taking on the occasional mate to satisfy her needs. She enjoys getting her own paws dirty and watching as cities and villages fall into chaos. She hates most of her own kind, hates how that is how she use to be. She makes sure to never lower guard, even when she stops to rest.
There have been times, moments in Nyx's life, where she killed others suffering out of mercy. As much as she hates to admit it there are times when she has moments of softness. Maybe it's times when she longs for companionship, but those feelings always pass and she pushes them to the side where they belong.

Bio:
Nyx is one of the original Shining's brought into this world. She was such a bright and bubbly thing whose fur was as white as the clouds and she wished for nothing more than others to be happy. But her master did not summon herself and three others into the world to bring peace and happiness into the world. Instead, he used them as spies in a war he intended to bring. Nyx is the one he favored, watching as the bubbly shining soon turned into exactly what he wanted her to be.
She soon led her master's armies, making sure they carried out their tasks or met their deaths at Nyx's fangs and claws.
While the war raged on, Nyx relished it all. But unfortunately, peace came over the lands and her master grew weak and close to death.
The now corrupted Shining severed the bond between her and the dying demon and became marked by her kind as a rouge and dangerous.
She travels the lands, using her powers to bring plagues and sickness wherever she goes. She does not even show the bitest remorse at the damage she causes.
She is now hunted by others of her kind so must remain on the move to avoid being caught. No one has ever successfully caught her and she has made sure to watch the light leave from their eyes and just to make sure they cannot come after her again she absorbs their life forces.
