I did a quick look on FA, so few pieces of work with the Hani and other Races of the Compact. You don't see much of H. Beam Piper's alien races either - so much for Little Fuzzy and the rest of the Gashta... - classic American Sci Fi from the early 1960s - worth reading - you can find a lot of his work online for free. Wrote from the 1940s to 1964.
Oh he would have been up there with Heinlein and Asimov if he hadn't taken his life in late October 1964. His Paratime stories are great and so are his Federation, Empire and later Space Viking stories. His best loved Federation tales are Little Fuzzy, Fuzzy Sapiens and Fuzzies and other People the last one was a lost manuscript found and published in the 1980s. hope this link works - good cover to a 1980s ed of Little Fuzzy https://images1.penguinrandomhouse....../9781101532713 Artist made the main human character look like Piper
I know - I get the feeling Cherryl's work is a bit above the heads of a lot of the fandom. I know the first couple of times I looked at Downbelow Station in a bookstore in the 1980s I put it back on the shelf. After being in college a few years it clicked with me - ditto with the Chanur saga. Have all the Alliance/Union books as well as the Chanur ones.
