Hellfarch meets a new friend and engages in a lively debate on whether or not said friend should be smooshed underfoot. Unfortunately for the little guy, Hellfarch makes very compelling arguments.
I've been wanting to animate Hellfarch in something more than a short gif for a while now, so I finally did so! My process of animating in Maya and rendering in UE4 is becoming more and more streamlined, so on a technical level this was all pretty straightforward to get set up! I still have a ways to go when it comes to the more artistic processes involved with animation, however. When I first set up a crude layout animatic to get an idea of how the animation would look, for example, I absolutely hated it. I was tempted to axe the project before I even really started, but then I realized that I go through a similar process when I sculpt in ZBrush; it initially looks terrible, but if I can push past my revulsion and keep refining it then it gradually becomes better and better. I guess animation is no different in that regard, as I am much happier with this final piece than I was with the initial sketch.

Hellfarch: *Compelling argument by providing a counterpoint*
Lil' Guy: *A very reasonable counter-argument to the previous counterpoint*
Hellfarch: *An even stronger counterpoint to counter-argue to the previous counterpoint's counter-argument with heavy implification of desired impending actions*
Lil' Guy: *Pleading against the impending action for various counter-arguments, weakly*
Hellfarch: *State of agreement reached; proceeds to perform action as agreed upon*

I definitely agree with your thought! The final result is appealing, but it won't appear if you don't push through the initial revulsion and spends time equal effort to refine the work. It feels fantastic, especially when I finally use Clip Studio Paint, which I brought a while ago while it was on sale, to make something instead of letting it take up storage space.
