Months after making her and needing one, and several weeks after I got this art made, I'm finally getting around to posting it. Sorry, Pally. Love the art, just being busy and keep forgetting to post it.
Everyone, say hello to Nephthys Dashim, or Nef, since those who don't speak celestial have a hard time pronouncing it. Nef is my back up character for my D&D campaign, in case something tragic happens to Jingles. But she's got her own full story and personality. And more than enough strength to hold her own.
Born the only daughter to a merchant, Nef was always an outsider. Not just because of her mother's position, but because she was what was known as a Fallen Aasimar, a person born with the blood of a corrupted angel in her veins. She was always a curious child who was fascinated by graves, rituals, the afterlife, and generally anything gothic. It led to her becoming a follower of the Raven Queen, a cleric of the grave, dedicated to ensuring the dead stay dead and those who should pass do so properly. She wanders as a priest for hire that administers last rites, helps ease the suffering of the dying, and dealing with any undead or necromancers swiftly. What she can't conquer with magic, she usually finishers off with her scythe and shield.
But she does have her own goals as well. She's looking for her father, the man who came into her mother's life for less than two months and left before either of them even knew she was pregnant. Ralrai might not have meant to be a father, but his tiefling blood was the reason Nef was a Fallen Aasimar, the reason she spent so much of her life ostracized. She hopes meeting him can at least give her some closure, some understanding about who she is.
Finding him won't be easy. Her latest lead to track him down? A Jester named Jingles, who may have some memory or clue as to where he went. And catching up to a Jester is easier said than done. But Nef's come this far already. She's not letting a few monsters or wannabe gods get in her way.
Thanks again for the wonderful art, Pally. I've needed something of her for ages, and you brought her to life perfectly. I can't thank you enough!
