I like that you drew the mummy to look like that marshmallow guy, haha.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought the like like looked like a stack of pancakes.

And the little bow around the green blobby guy is adorable. Makes him look very handsome.

I always found the michelin man somewhat disturbing and it matched up well with the mummies that appear without any egyptian tomb context and always face the same direction. Nothing about them makes sense! In the second quest I was afraid of them since they are so powerful and numerous for when you get forced to deal with them.

Likelikes were consistently called "pancakes" or "teeth" in my house but pancakes eventually won out. However in trying to draw them I noticed they started to resemble cartoon steaks. What is important is that they don't look like shield-eating blobs.

The blobs were my favorite monsters when I originally played the game and I made up a dumb song about them. I didn't see any way to misinterpret the form for this but wanted to include one anyway!

Yeah, overall, the first Zelda will always have a special place in my heart. But the sprites weren't always great at conveying what they were supposed to be. To this day I still have no idea what those... white... round... fuzzy looking things are supposed to be. And those dog-looking things holding the sword (apparently they're called Lynel) will always just look like dogs to me.

I misheard lynel as liono. and always called them that probably from having been a thundercats enthusiast at one point and thought of them as more cat than dog-like, plus they carry swords around, even if using their mouths sometimes. Years later after forgetting why I initially called them liono I was surprised to learn that was actually close to their intended name.
I prefer the three color sprites of early nes games to the two colors with outlines style that took over even if they aren't always clear. Or at least from my 2021 perspective I do. These are mysterious but without looking like formless garbage. They look like they came from a game that is content to be a game without trying to resemble a cartoon or a feature film. Likewise I appreciate that the monsters EXPLODE when beaten rather than blink and vanish, as if THAT's realistic. In fact I even prefer outright vanishing to blinking first.

That ... that IS what they are.

I love how much of a mix of dead-on and utterly out of wack these ideas ended up being.

The forlorn moblin has to be my favorite, although the dopey imp is a second.

I seem to have a frightful habit of rendering imps dopily!
I am glad if anybody liked the boomerang person since that one was a bit of an afterthought to fill space (before I decided to also include the pancakes, hershey's kiss, fat blob, patra and peartra). Initially I drew it with block-shaped feet but changed them into pirate pegs just to amuse myself.

Some of these are better than the originals, but I don't know how I'd feel about being chased around the dungeon by a toilet brush :v That Smug-Bubble is a good one though, I'd be plenty smug too if I was an annoying, indestructible little nuisance!
