I live in Arkansas. I see rednecks, every day. I drew this a few weeks back while it was SNOWING like nobody's business.. okay we got about an inch... problem is, it fell while I was at work, so I got to watch 90% of the people that were supposed to relieve me in the morning call in because of the weather, which ultimately WASN'T THAT BAD!
Just goes to prove the rule.. in the South, if it snows, even a little bit, SHUT THE STATE DOWN!

Oh no kidding. I just have to laugh whenever I see states in the south having a major crisis because of two inches of snow. I live in upstate New York, and we just got nailed with 11 feet in one week. But you know what? As long as it was only snowing an inch or two an hour, people keep moving, cars keep rolling, and life goes on.
Hell, people around here are *so* unafraid of snow that if there's three days of warm weather, half the state forgets they can't do seventy in a blizzard. It's fun seeing a car in the ditch every mile or so.

It's rather pathetic down here. There's like no middle ground, either people are mortified of even a single snowflake, or don't give two shits about the weather and drive however they damn well please. So pretty much EVERYONE ends up calling in.. either because they're afraid to drive, or have run their car off the road :|
Hah.. An inch of snow is quite enough to shut down everything south of Missouri... and Missouri only takes 2 inches.
The problem is that it snows so rarely around here that we don't have the infrastructure to deal with lots of snow.. no salt trucks, no snowplows.. nothing. So the accumulation tends to sit there until the sun shows up and fixes it magically.

I know the feeling. Last week, we had a few inches fall. I'm in southern Ohio, so snow isn't new to us. However, everyone at all the places we needed to get to were shut down because the snow was "dropped suddenly." And surprisingly they didn't salt squat. Took me 20 minutes to go what normally takes me 3.
Great pic though.

Bilmer is actually a real name I've encountered. Back when I was working in medical records for the hospital here.. the name "Bilmer", printed on a folder, drifted across my desktop. It filled me with such pity, yet such desire to mock, that I've remembered it to this day.
No not born here.. born Oklahoma, raised Texas. I don't mind Arkansas so much, I moved here of my own free will, and actually love it here.. for the most part. Again, I live in a college town that isn't anything like the rest of Arkansas.
If I lived anywhere else in the state I'd shoot myself.

Born Irish, raised Texas also. I don't hate all of Arkansas, it's just that there's never anything to do. I moved here because my parents didn't like the city life and wanted to live in the country...I think I'd be happier if they chose a different area. The only exciting thing to do in Batesville is visit the local sex shop...and I find just having one a miracle considering how many churches there are in the area lol
