Anywho TWO LOVERS on opposite sides of the law, Sly Cooper and Carmelita Fox fake his amnesia after the events at Kaine Island and put on a mutual facade to give them both a chance to start over. Yeah that's some shit, but shut up cos Interpol is full of a buncha shady assholes who have actively EMPLOYED past criminals (e.g. Neyla) based solely on their expertise in b u l l s h i t, so Carmelita calls Chief Barkley's bluff on his """"""plausible deniability"""""" and of COURSE he agrees on this coverup cos like, holy shit imagine Not hiring the same dude who basically helped pinpoint and land all those other criminals in jail (shoutouts to my boy Dimitri).
But yeah Sly's expert proficiency on reconnaissance and detective skills got his shady ass promoted AF so he's like a hella private investigator or something and because Sly 4 was a fucking trash fire of a story, I will spite it by saying Carmelita and Sly have a HEALTHY relationship where they support each other and Sly doesn't have some fucking klepto relapse (seriously fuck that line in Sly 4 where he has an "ITCH" to pull another heist lmao).

Personally, I see the "Itch" as more like that Sly wanted to pull off a heist on something that would be consider impossible to achieve! Not caring about the item, but more focusing on HOW to get to the item and getting away with said item too.
