I will probably re-attempt this at some point because I'm not quite happy with it. Anyways! I was listening to some podcast and the guy was talking about his pregnant dog's ultrasound and how the big skeleton was full of smaller skeletons which was a provocative mental image that I then totally failed to capture :D Ah well... Noah gets to the the tech instead of the meal for once! Fun~

Three people AND a ham, apparently. But I agree, given Mort's size compared to Noah I would imagine it would take twice as many people to make a bulge that big, though his stomach could be bloated with gas, which may be why he is getting the Ultrasound. Perhaps some indigestible, modern synthetic clothing item is blocking Mort's Pyloric sphincter, and the next step will be sending Noah down the hatch to clear the blockage!
That's a good point, as it would be far easier to determine a litter of pups by the number of detectable skeletons as they would pretty much remain in a static position, whereas in an actively digesting stomach, there is usually about three big peristaltic contractions per minute, and each one would likely move the bodies into completely different locations, making it very difficult, if not impossible to make an accurate count. But then, Mort surely knows how many people (and hams) he recently ate, so one wonders if he is just intent on "giving Noah a hard time", by making him rub the ultrasound probe all over a belly filled with possibly still struggling and terrified people in their death throes!
A great concept but thinking there must be some kind of unusual "complication" with this meal to justify getting the Ultrasound. Since this is a modern setting maybe one of humans that Mort swallowed was actually a high tech robot with skin made out of indigestible silicon rubber. Since the "Vet" seems to be Noah and this is far in the future from the Medievalesque fantasy setting of the story, the Noah's Serpent Amulet seems to have kept him alive all these years to serve Mort in every way, including the diagnosis of an apparent upset stomach in this case.
