Indeed, as a species in general, we suck.
On the other hand, anything that shares our genetics..created by an admittedly flawed species would be superior how? Physically, possibly. Intellectually? We're starting to undestand the genes that govern intellect and creativity.
Morally? Wishful thinking. There's always some bad apple.
Go ahead and castigate the entire race, but don't forget to remember you're also a member. If we're all so evil...then how do you explain yourself?
There ARE those of us who would fight with them because we love our country and what it stands for more than any fallacies perpetrated and propagated by society and government.

Okay, I get where you’re coming from that it is not fair to judge all of humanity as evil and tyrannical however let’s view our progress over the past couple of years and estimate where our society will go in the next 40 years when this story takes place. And I’ll try to keep it short, lol!
We as humans exercise our right to be comfortable. All the cheap labor we get from overseas and immigrants should be a good indicator of that. The antagonist of this story made these creatures to benefit communities, workforce and military. We’ll go into that later.
Normal, unaltered four-leggers only have a few things to worry about: eat, drink, safe place to sleep, sex, friend, enemy. With a human brainpan they’d have so much more to be introspective about, to worry, to feel, to want and desire. As long as it took for our society to let blacks and whites in the same schools, as long as it took for us to let women vote and as much as we argue back and forth whether an unborn fetus is a sentient being nowadays, I would think that it would take the public a long time (present company excluded) to accept that these creatures are sentient beings.
All Tragedy has known is cruelty from humans and that is burned permanently in her memory. She wouldn’t know about the political movements to accept the animals as citizens in America or in other countries. All she’d know is the history of humans, and what they’ve done to animals. Now that the playing field is leveled it’s time to get even and prove who deserves to be on top.
Tragedy is a tormented soul, she is very wrathful and unforgiving and it was her firey speeches that fell on hungry ears that were tired of waiting for a vote or an election for policies to change. She appealed to them and spoke the words they wanted to hear.
The scientist is playing both fields but he’s still tossing the coin on who to ultimately side with.

Interesting. The more society advances, the faster it changes. There is literally no telling where we'll be in forty years, much less if we'll be! We might already be on the wane of a free society, heading towards totalitarianism.
And I...really...tend to not bet against humans when it comes down to survival as a species. Yes, we'll probably have most of the herd culled, but think if you will on..hmmn...
I'm not sure how to phrase this to convey the sheer amount of terror I feel when I consider the 'nonexistent' research into biological and chemical weaponry. With greater understanding of genetics, the viruses will only become more selective.
The last furry story I read about this sort of situation ended up with a plague killing off all the furs. Sort of a much shorter variation on Stephen King's The Stand.
Thinking on it, if they have advanced and highly adaptive immune systems, they could conceivably be resistant.
I guess I'm just a ruthless bastard with a..well developed sense of self-preservation. A pretty way of saying I'm a coward if given a choice.

Imagine the horror, the pure horror, when this she-wolf pounded her fist into the dirt crying that enough is enough... Imagine the horror when millions more cheered.. When the millions that we personally trained to do everything from military tactics, to prepare our food, clean our water, run our power, watch us while we sleep...
Imagine the horror when that she-wolf just demanded that every man woman and child be wiped off the face of the earth and millions cheer.
Imagine the horror, the pure horror, when this she-wolf pounded her fist into the dirt crying that enough is enough... Imagine the horror when millions more cheered.. I've seeen all..*counts on his fingers.* four Planet of the Apes movies, including the stupid remake. I've read Ray Bradbury and Isaac Asimov.
If they choose the methods of humanity, then they are no better, and millions are pitifully outnumbered by billions. Billions of ignorant, furless savages perfectly willing to take a swing at something just becaise it is different.
I can imagine the horror easily, that's one of the things that tends to worry me. It's playing out like the worst parts of Resident Evil, Dawn of the Dead, and Cujo.
Only I can smell charred flesh and burned fur even through a gasmask.
On a related topic, this is kind of why I support abortion. Some asshole traumatized Tragedy, and now the world is gonna pay for his mistake. Woulda been better if he'd never been born, quineg?
