It's always difficult with these songs to place your personal line between highbrow technique and doing it gut-raw. Everybody has to find their medium, mine is much closer to the soulful-bluesy side.
Once in a while you need to tone down the vibrato a bit, and let the note sit. Vibrato makes a note shine, and sometimes you want the emotion to be more flat and tense.
Still, I heard you wanting to pour yourself into the song. That's the key, all technique can be learned afterward.
(Also, shout-out for us strong bass/baritones!)

At the time this was recorded (about a year ago) I was just focusing on technique really, and staying consistant with my tone (which SORT of happened). You can build dramatic tension while incorperating vibrato. (urgh, i'm typing in fragments, but I just can't be bothered to fix it ^^; )
Vibrato isn't something you put on (unless you're a bad singer or some wobbly jaw person), it shows a relaxation of the voice, and warms the tone naturally, of course, if i were to be hired for a musical, I would adjust my singing style accordingly, but I'm predominantly a classical singer, so my style for musicals would be closer to that of Bryn Terfels when he sings songs from musicals (not that i'm comparing myself to him in any way *worships him*).
Sorry about my poor english, it's because i've induldged in some alcohol and... am not quite thinking the same way that i usually do!
Aaaaaaaaanyway, thanks! And yes! More great songs for us please! I'm fed up of tenors getting all the good stuff that people actually know!
