Dante is thought to be the son of Rush and an unknown Mobian, however this has been called into question as no one has been able to locate his mother for questioning and neither father or son will neither confirm or deny any allegations. The only thing that is known is that his mother was most likely a bat due to the fact that he exhibits many similar traits. Dante spent a fair portion of his childhood in the Dragon Kingdom under the care of the Yagyu Clan while his father was away during which time he was trained in the way of the ninja by the clan as part of a debt owed to Rush for past services to the Bride of Rich Nights.

While he can't fly Dante exhibits several prominently bat-like features and abilities such as a keen sense of hearing surpassing any cat and semi-prehensile feet which, coupled with his ninja training, allow him to suspend himself upside down with the right conditions. Dante also possesses an unparalleled sense of balance due to the nature of his mixed lineage which he incorporates into his acrobatic displays. With his claws he can climb most surfaces and even suspend himself vertically or horizontally from the ceiling.

In order to compensate for his inability to fly Dante has become an accomplished acrobat and free runner, using his heightened sense of balance and natural agility to assist him while making precarious jumps and running along narrow ledges.
