A Long-Awaited Happening | Chapter 3
Chapter 3
8am. Lucas woke up, out of automatism. He moved from his left side to his right side, and he slowly opened his eyes, to be greeted by a sleeping Damian. Lucas started blushing furiously, being closer to his crush than ever before. He looked at Damian, trailing down from the fox’s face, to be greeted by the incredibly muscular body that supports the fox’ head. Butterflies started piling up in Lucas’ stomach, he started feeling light. Then Damian started waking up, catching Lucas off guard. He panicked and does the only thing he can think of. Closing his eyes again.
“Ugh, good morning Lucas” Damian said “good to see you’re awake as well.” Lucas realized that Damian was on to him, and started blushing even more furiously. Damian started getting out of bed, scratching his head, his eyes still very tired. Lucas’ heart was beating as if his life depended on it. He asked if he can use the shower for a bit, to start his day fresh. Damian showed him the shower, and how it works. After that, Lucas walked back into the bedroom, grabbing his clean clothes, and started showering.
After he was done showering and dressing himself, he noticed that Damian is no longer upstairs. Lucas heard some rumbling coming from downstairs. He packed his bag, and moved downstairs, to be greeted by Damian, who was making breakfast for the both of them. Lucas could smell the eggs and bacon, sprinkled with salt and pepper, and got an instant reminder of his days back with his parents. It was a happy thought, and he smiled a bit too widely, because Damian can’t hold back a laugh.
“Hahaha, thinking of something nice, Lucas? You’re a world different from yesterday, you really must’ve been in a deep hole.” He stated. “I’ve got breakfast for the both of us, eat up while it’s still hot.”
Lucas sat down at the dining table, and watched as Damian fills the plates with the eggs and bacon. Lucas noticed that Damian is still in his shorts. It was a sight he didn’t mind at all.
“Hey, Damian. Thanks for letting me stay the night. I really needed some comforting. By the way, shouldn’t you get dressed? It’s Thursday, you’ve got classes, right?” Lucas asked, realizing it’s nearly 9:30am.
“My classes start at 11 on Thursdays, so I’ve got plenty of time in the mornings. Besides, having breakfast in regular clothes makes them smelly.” The fox explained. “I wouldn’t want to smell like eggs and bacon for an entire day, y’know.”
Lucas thought about what Damian just said, agreed, and nodded his head. Nothing to argue about.
“So, what are your plans for today Lucas? I imagine you have plenty to work on yourself.” Damian said, just before taking a big bite out of his bacon.
Lucas nodded. “I’ll be on my way home after breakfast. I’ve got two or three commissions that came in just this morning, I’ve got the character piece for you to finish, and I’m working on some of my own pieces as well. So yeah, I’ve got plenty to do!” Lucas said with a playful smile on his muzzle.
They finished up their plates, and Lucas started packing up. He didn’t hear Damian sneaking up behind him, and jumped up as the fox closed his arms around the wolf’s slender body.
“If you ever feel like venting, or need anything else for that matter, don’t hesitate. Text me, call me, anything.” Damian said.
Lucas chuckled. “You really like to be the good guy, huh?” Lucas said jokingly.
“I’m serious, Lucas.” Lucas didn’t need to be told twice, he could see that Damian meant every single word he just said. Lucas nodded at Damian, and moved downstairs towards the front door, with Damian following closely. Once they reach the front door, Lucas grabbed his coat, and turned around to face Damian.
“Again, thank you so much Damian.” Lucas reached up, and gave Damian a little smooch on his cheek. This had been a habit of his ever since they left high school. Lucas had always been short, standing no taller than 5’4, and he always had to stand on his tippy toes to meet Damian eye to eye, since the fox stood at an impressive 6’2, which exceeded the average for foxes in general. Damian had always found it embarrassing, since he didn’t see himself as gay, and had asked Lucas many times over why he kept doing it. “Because I feel like you deserve it, that’s why” had always been the excuse the wolf gave Damian.
“I’ll be on my way. We’ll stay in touch!” Lucas said, while opening the door and stepping outside.
“We will! Have a great day Lucas!” Damian called after him, and waved the wolf goodbye.
