After fierce battle with his sworn enemies - Kung Lao from Wu Shi Academy and Motaro of the Centaurs, Goro focused on his new objective, the throne of Outworld. Thanks to the alliance with Tarkatans and Shao Kahns servants that also seek the fall of the emperor the Shokan prevailed over monstrous ruler. When the dust finnaly cleared the Shokan executed his allies and true scheme came out to light. Shokan warriors took over the Outworld to put a stop to the dark ages of Shao Kahns rule and forged an alliance with Earthrealm to begin new age of peace. As for the death of Kung Lao he explains that was a nessesary step to bring the war to an end. In return, Goro named capital city of Outworld after the Earthrealm warrior to honor his memory.
