Lizzurd Punch Monke: The Movie!
This may not be a BIG big painting, but it's been a while since I last tackled something bigger than an 8x10, and this was a much needed experience. Once again, I had to play with the color palettes, using blues (with red/orange underlighting) for Godzilla, and red/orange (with blue underlighting) for Kong. I know I wasn't being accurate with the Hong Kong skyline, but I was really mostly going for effect (kinda the way the late great Noriyoshi Ohrai did the Heisei-era Godzilla posters). I thought it'd have to be a bit more complicated, but the silhouette of the buildings and their shape being defined by the lights was a cool, but simple effect, even to my surprise. Plus, I've always wanted to see Godzilla in a neon-lit city, so you can imagine my glee seeing that in the trailer. I did want to add a reference to the scene of Kong battling the snake-like Warbats, but it was kind of an issue of space and the fact I liked how the neon lighting looked... Eh, probably would have made things too busy anyway.
I'm really intrigued by where this movie is going. Godzilla "going rogue", Kong with his battle axe, exploring the Hollow Earth... I'm liking that there's gonna be some lore dug into (literally). I personally won't be going to a theater, but if you must...please be safe, my friends.
