Hey guys! I took this really cute photo of my pet gecko, Genevieve today, and I liked it a lot! So I wanted to share it with you in case anyone was interested :)
Genevieve is a 5 year old leopard gecko that I adopted from the reptile rescue I volunteer with each week! The minimum tank size for a leopard gecko is 20 gallons, but more space is always better for your pets! Her aquarium is a 40 gallon, and it is glass, so I painted a mural that covers the back and one side so that she doesn't feel like she can't hide anywhere. I used a reptile-safe clay to make half of her enclosure have a clay floor, and I made a few little caves in it. Before it hardened, I used some plastic plants that I sanitized and stuck them in the clay. She has a warm side and a cool side, and a little platform in the back that she can climb up on if she wants to be up high!
Leopard geckos make great first reptiles, but make sure you don't get your information about them from a chain pet store like Petsmart or Petco! Try looking for care guides on websites of reptile rescues that actually have the animal's best interests in mind.
Do you have any questions about leopard geckos or other reptiles? Feel free to ask in the comments, and I will answer the best I can <3

Oh no, that's sad! I'm sure it wasn't your fault, if you got him from a pet store. They never give people the right information. They want people to buy reptiles, so they make it seem like reptiles don't need a lot of supplies. People are more likely to buy a pet that only needs a small tank than a pet who actually needs a large tank, hiding spots, heat sources, UVB, live bugs, fresh veggies, and vitamins!

It sounds like a lot but that's what bearded dragons need! Most pet stores are too greedy to say so.
