I believe you. Mine (different model, same brand) has a similar issue. I spent a long time adjusting its color balance but it’ll always be a bit washed out. At least yours is already dark, so you can brighten it, but there’s nothing I can do about mine.

I think they use generic TV panels for these things. Mine has a little round vents in the back for speakers!

Oh wow! Well that explains a lot. To this day I've still been fiddling with the settings. Especially since I updated my gpu and it reset all my color settings. I've tried brightening up the image but it just makes the colors look a bit washed out. Just can't seem to find the right middle ground.
