Since it’s been so long since I’ve drawn Abaddon, I figured I’d give some more insight on his background. Believe it or not, Abaddon used to be a very bright eyed and energetic child. The child version of himself seen here was when he was still a Baron, which is a name used for young demons who are born to become Demi Astrals as soon as they are old enough. The age for a Baron went from 100 years to 800 hundred (which is about 6-12 years in human age), after that, they reach their Duke stage.
Abaddon was the middle child of his 4 other brothers, and used to be rather helpful to his fellow demons. Unfortunately, he was stripped away of any chances to be a kid, even though he is a demon, demonic children spent time learning from their parents, being loved and nurtured. Abby and his brothers were instead forced away from them to be brutally trained and disciplined, nearly killed countless times in the process. Especially Abaddon.
Over time, the once rather calm and reserved child grew to become a dark, dangerous creature full of hatred and rage. Any reminiscence of the old him was gone, changed completely from the horrors and pain he was forced into. He knew nothing else other than that.

Even if he wanted to change, he couldn’t. Demons aren’t born evil, but they can’t change their ways, lest they die. Abaddon, at one point, didn’t want to do what he did, but with Apex and the fact if he did try to be “good” his body would kill itself, he can’t do anything. So he just accepted it. Same applies to all demons (minus Apex). Their culture unfortunately can never be changed.
He's always being a tyrant, he's known (and worshiped) for it. He designed demons specifically to be monsters, and wanted to be sure none could go against that, even for demons like Abaddon. Apex wanted to make sure demons couldn't go against their nature. So he made it that if they did, there would be dire consequences for themselves. Abaddon doesn't have as much say as he or anyone else thinks.
