A demo I may remake for my next album. I've had the chorus for ages, but couldn't work out how to do verses. I put it with the verses from a song where the chorus didn't work, and it fit nicely. This song's musically inspired by Gregg Alexander's style of writing.
It's about wasting your life away in crappy jobs with ungrateful customers who think they're above you, knowing you're capable of far better but not knowing when it will happen. This sort of thing is a recurring theme in various songs I'm writing atm.
Lyrics:
Verse 1
I toil all day, I try my best
No matter what, you're still not impressed
What is it you don't understand,
When I say I've done all I can?
Bridge:
If you want something done right, don't ask me
Try it yourself and you might just agree
Some things can't change, ain't that strange
Or maybe
Chorus:
I want the world to change
But I feel I'm losing the game
I want the world to change
But I feel I'm losing the game
And there's a world outside
That takes away my pride
And there's a world outside
That's not for me
I fight my way out of poverty
And for this you look down on me
Third time's the charm when it comes to distrust
I have no choice but to leave you in the dust
Repeat bridge
Repeat chorus
