lots of Veri stuff, in this one.

I've been working on his lore (and his species' lore!) quite a lot, including a WIP 'megaref' (that is, an enormous psuedo-wikipedia-page styled reference sheet) for his species (which are called 'Deceivers').

Aaaaand of course thinking about Veri this much has of course caused me to return to pondering how Transformers!Veri would work (and also what his story as a cybertronian would be like).
For those who haven't seen my previous posts containing stuff regarding the Transformers!Veri AU, TF Veri is actually a sparkeater despite being set in the Prime/Aligned continuity. (I still haven't read IDW, and Prime is the continuity I'm most familiar with??? However browsing enough fanfiction inevitably introduces you to stuff from all around a fandom. I do gotta give IDW a read sometime though, it seems like it'd be pretty good!) TF Veri is also a Decepticon, or rather, he hangs out with the Decepticons in the way that a prehistoric wolf might hang around cavemen to feed on their scraps. The Autobot/Decepticon war rendering Cybertron nearly lifeless, as it turns out, sucks pretty bad for any by-standing creatures living there- especially predators, who depend upon their prey base to survive. Veri's strategy, once hunting for his sustenance became unfeasible- was to switch to scavenging the battlefields, and subsequently to follow the 'bots and 'cons around (at a distance). Eventually however he become too beaten up and injured to do even that, and so to avoid starving to death he decided to hit up Megatron and offer to become a Decepticon.
Most of the Deceptions don't actually like him, but they tolerate his presence (mostly) because Megatron says so- and Megatron keeps Veri because just having him around is a potent tool of psychological warfare. Sure, Veri is in actuality too crippled to hunt very well and his small size makes him surprisingly weak in non-ambush combat, but he's a damn sparkeater, and just having the threat of letting him eat someone's spark is enough to create fear (and rage,). Veri himself is just there because now he gets to eat the casualties of the war without getting shot at, and also because allying with the Decepticons gives him access to other things that he never had in his life prior (as an undead abomination, Veri was originally wholly solitary and NOT a part of cybertronian society At All)- such as medical care.
Knockout and Breakdown kind of get shouldered with dealing with him more than everyone else, starting off with how much repairing he boards the nemesis in need of. In the process of addressing that, they kind of learn to work with each other fairly well, and as a result Veri decides that they're easier to deal with than anybody else on the ship- much to the medics' dismay ;u;
(I would write more but then I'd be dumping a even more ridiculous wall of text in here so UH just be patient I'll exposit Even More Info You Don't Care About when I put together a sketchy lil' ref for Transformers!Veri)
