Autumn is my favourite season.
Sable River is a ten-minute drive inland from Crossfolf Corner. We've left the rocky, spruce-lined coast , and we've reached the colorful forest where the rivers run to the sea.
I took this picture last year when this side of Nova Scotia was still suffering the effects of the hottest, driest summer on record thus far. That explains why Sable River was little more than a trickle through the rocks when I stopped to take this shot of the old mill beside the Sable River bridge.
