are you using flash?
cos i had the same problem;
figured out if you go to file>publish settings>
then a box will come up and you click GIF, then click the tab that appears on the box..
after changing the settings to file size, animeted, etc. - you then click web adaptive, or adaptive.
then go back on file>publish preview>GIF
this animations really makes me smile too, what a grin :D
