More properly Budōnoki, the offspring of a forest dragon and a she-bear. When he was born he was quite small, scrawny and had a disproportionately long dragonlike tail, and dark green fuzz for fur. For these features and the way his tail would wrap around her limbs when he was needy, his mother started calling him her little vine. For want of further inspiration, the name stuck as he grew ('Budōnoki' being Japanese for 'vine'). His pelt started coming in lighter the next spring.
Currently he's working on getting a grasp of his abilities as a scion of the forest itself. Encouraging plants to grow and fruit/flower seems to come as second nature, and he finds he doesn't seem to need as much food as other bears (he photosynthesizes). He's learned how to fly, though dislikes going high and isn't at all fast, both of which his sire hopes improve with practice.
A friendly sort by nature, he'll accept being called Bu or Bud... just don't call him Noki unless you're really good friends. He considers it a fat joke.
