A 30-second history report on kinta civilization. Some people on an island decide to build some machines and take over the world, but then it all collapses into a shadow of its former self, leaving a bad taste behind. Sound familiar? I tend to equate the kinta species with a single civilization or nation which is a reasonable but imperfect generality, however there's no time to go into the heterogeneity of their politics or demographics (yet).
Transcript:
In the ancient world, kintas mostly stayed on their isolated home island but occasionally went on largely peaceful expeditions to the mainland to acquire knowledge and supplies. Consequently, kintas were portrayed as exotic or mythical creatures by most cultures, and were a rare sight.
Soon, strong institutions, abundant resources, and a thirst for efficiency at home catalyzed the development of industry. As the first species to industrialize significantly, kintas quickly took to the seas in search of raw materials, land, and labor to set up businesses and colonies, solidifying our global position as a dominant and expanding force. Unfortunately, we weren’t really all that kind about it.
Since the 1950s, societal shifts and domestic troubles have accelerated the decline of a once-global empire. While its impact is irreversible as things like our language and units of measure have spread worldwide, the bad taste it left for those it exploited, along with sheer infrastructure incompatibility, remain the key obstacles to being fully accepted by other species.
