Wanted to do another piece of Luthien showing her Elven heritage and the magic abilities she has inherited from her lineage, so here's a pic of her out in the forest, using a bit of her magic to help some saplings grow. I'll definately be doing more pics like this in the future, I love drawing green leafy stuff! ^_^

I've always really liked the idea of nature magic, and of being able to aid and enhance the natural world. I guess maybe that's what comes of growing up on a farm that was as much a sort of informal nature preserve as working farmland. We always let our fence rows grow up, to provide shelter for animals, and did things like mowing around clusters of milkweed, to encourage monarch butterflies to stick around. So I've always kind of wished I could have powers like this.
Speaking of which, I really like how gentle and soothing this piece is. For all her obvious power, she's helping, not controlling, and that really sets a nice tone for the whole picture. It makes her seem kind, and somewhat motherly, and she reminds me more than a little of some of those old pantheistic nature or fertility goddesses from various mythologies. Which, I'm guessing, was kind of the intent.
I really like her dress, especially all of the intricate knotwork along the hem, and the way the red and black stand out so strongly against the green. Maybe it's just me, but it puts me in mind of the more violent forces of nature, like fire and storms, as kind of a contrast to the birth and growth that's going on around her. But I don't think it takes away from the piece at all. Instead, I think it gives it kind of a nice balance, and goes back to what I said about the nature goddesses. They weren't always all butterflies and daffodils, after all. Not that I think Luthien would do anything cruel, you understand. This is just my love of mythology coming out a bit.
And of course, I love the butterflies, and the roses in her hair. Both of them seem to have become rather iconic, in your work, but for myself, I can't get enough of them. Very nicely done! And I'll stop, before I write a novel in your comments section.
