Eulalia! - Mouseflower Zine
Badger characters were a personal favourite of mine in the Redwall series. Strong, stoic, somewhat solitary, but also extremely kind and willing to die for their cause.
This piece was originally created last year for the Mouseflower Zine (a Redwall inspired fan zine), however the production went on hold due to the pandemic. Seeing as it has been postponed indefinitely, I figured I couldn't wait any longer to share my work. Find out more at https://twitter.com/MouseflowerZine
Redwall has a special place in my heart. I read all the books when I was younger, watched all the TV series, imagined myself in that world, and it was some of the first fan art that got me started with drawing. Brian Jacques was one of only two celebrities I shed tears for when he passed. I still enjoy listening to the audiobooks, and the heroic ideals inspire me to this day, especially when I am faced with ethical dilemmas or when I struggle with my mental health. I know I don't do a lot of fan art, but I couldn't help joining this project as soon as I heard about it.
Done in watercolour and mechanical pencil. I will be selling the original in an art show whenever conventions return.

Redwall was a love of mine when I used to read avidly. For a time when I felt small in life, the world Brian Jacques created gave me a place to be in. I got involved in communities regarding Redwall and it really led to who I am now as a person. It taught me to write better, it taught me to be a better person, and it opened me up to being social on the internet. It also struck me with my undying obsession and love for badgers... No regrets there!
Your art piece here is absolutely fantastic and it represents the badgers of Redwall accurately! Eulalia! x

Badgers were some of my favorite characters too from the Redwall series. I named one of my panderan warriors in World of Warcraft after Cregga Rose-eyes. I was really sad to hear when Brian Jacques did end up passing away, but what I'm thankful for more than anything is that a few years prior to his passing, he took a book tour to the states and happen to stop in my home city. He was an absolutely humorous and amazing human being to meet in person and I'm happy to have gotten the chance to meet him. He signed two of my Redwall books, the first was Mossflower, the very first Redwall book I ever read. The second was his latest release at the time, which was Doomwyte.
Redwall will always bring happy memories, simpler times, but also the vivid detail that Brain Jacques brought to the books. From when I was a 10 years old and I thought that "Dibbuns. Against. Bedtime." (Dab) was so relatable with my parents always making me go to bed for staying up and reading
