Ellie: "There you go Steve!" (Places breathing apparatus on Steven).
Steven: "(Gasp) Hey, I can breathe! That's incredible!"
Ellie: "Yeah, So, what do you think of my new ability?"
Steven: "Well, um..., you look great! I like your tail!"
Ellie: "Thanks! Let me show you around the ocean, It's wonderful!"
Steven: "Ok sure, but I'm not sure I can keep up with you!"
Ellie: "Look! Just keep holding my hand, ok?"
Steven: "Alright, alright!"
Ok, I know i'm over a month early for Mer-May but I wanted to do something involving a Mer-fox version of Ellie for some time now and this drawing, I am pretty proud of, I must admit.
Anyways, as this is non-canon to my story, I felt it would be best if Ellie being a Mer-fox was only a dream. The breathing apparatus that Steven has on him is meant to be a reference to the Futurama Season 2 episode "The Deep South".
Also, the outfit that Ellie is wearing is a reference to the S Fighters Outfit I drew her wearing in 2015, except with brighter colours and the purple and green tube top is now only those 2 colours, rather than being a grey top with a diagonal purple and green stripe.
Lastly, you probably notice the Lotus Esprit submarine as well.
