I recently volunteered to do a trade with
Odonarta (formerly known as
Sassenach ). The trade itself never took off owing to pressing engagements on her end, but I did complete my half, which she gave me permission to post as a gift instead.
To that end, I present her original OC, Sass, a Saarloos wolfdog whose design I really enjoyed. I took the liberty of using a white-tailed eagle feather for the earring as a nod to the origins of Sass's breed (the white-tailed eagle lives year-round in northern Germany- where the German Shepherd or Alsatian originates- nests in Siberia- where Leendert Saarloos found the she-wolf that he bred with a male Alsatian to create the breed- and winters in the Netherlands- Meneer Saarloos's home country and the country where the breed originated). I also settled on an eagle feather to begin with because of the German Imperial Eagle (Friedrich I, King in Prussia claimed the title of Prince of Orange through his mother's bloodline after the death of King William III of England [Willem III, Prince of Orange], in opposition to Johan Willem Friso, Prince of Orange and his heirs, who were Stadtholders of the Dutch Republic and ancestors of the current Dutch Royal Family. King Friedrich sold the lands of Orange to the French in 1713, but the Prussian Royal family continued to use the style Prinz von Oranien up until Kaiser Wilhelm II was deposed at the end of World War I).

But there was never any trade to start with? The journal that was made specifically says that she would note ones she accepted, and accepted very limited trades. Only a select few got notes, if you received a note, your trade was accepted. If you did not receive a note, it was not chosen. Just because you felt the need to try and push the trade to get something from her doesn't mean she fell through. It was never started, nor accepted, so putting false information on the site about a respectable artist who I know personally is in incredibly bad taste and should be removed.
I started drawing this before I realised I’d missed the cut, and I was more than happy to continue the work even when I was told my offer was not picked up. It was never my intention to misinform or defame anyone. I even asked Odonarta herself if she would prefer me not to post the finished work on here in view of the trade not taking place, and she had no objection.
She's a good friend of mine and I know the whole story.
As for not your intention to misinform - "The trade itself never took off owing to pressing engagements on her end, but I did complete my half," - nothing happened on her end. That's misinformation to put it very nicely. Somehow I very highly doubt that when you asked to post it that you told her you were going to say she didn't complete "her half" when there was never a "her half" to begin with.

Look, I was very happy to draw Sass. I admit I would’ve been somewhat more happy had her schedule allowed her to take on drawing the character I suggested for her, but that was entirely a secondary consideration for me. Had she insisted that I not post the piece here, I would’ve been glad either to keep the drawing to myself or to show it to her through a more private channel. As it is, the piece is here, she’s shown her appreciation, and you and I are merely quibbling over the description text, which I did try to correct the phrasing to mollify you after your first message- unsuccessfully, apparently.
I hold Odonarta’s work and characters in high regard, which is why I elected to take on this project in the first place (and a previous headshot trade before this). I offer my humble apologies for my mistaken phrasing and beg you not to continue hounding me over the matter.
