The problem with the original was it was very visually noisy and I felt it distracted from the pic. I tried a smaller shield with a few tweaks and . . . well, it's not as distracting, but it does not have any impact. It doesn't look like the shield is shattering, so much as I divided a basic shape up and pulled the pieces apart - probably because that's exactly what I did.
Still, posting it for comparison sake, to see what others think of it.
